Margaret Carter Billingsley

In Loving Memory of Margaret Carter Billingsley "Peggy"
Margaret Carter Billingsley, known to all as “Peggy,” age 73, passed away on December 5, 2024, after a brief illness. She was born on July 9, 1951, in Savannah, Georgia, where she was raised and spent most of her life.
Peggy graduated from Savannah High School in 1969 and began her career in banking at Great Southern Federal in 1984. She spent over three decades serving the Savannah community, retiring from South State Bank of Whitmarsh Island in 2017.
In retirement, Peggy found joy in watching golf, cheering for her beloved Georgia Bulldogs, and enjoying lunch dates with her close friends. She cherished the time spent with those she loved, always making others feel special with her warmth and generosity.
Peggy was predeceased by her precious daughter, Brandi Billingsley Kennedy; her brother, David; her parents; and many other loved ones.
She is survived by her son, Beau M. Billingsley, and his wife, Angela; her granddaughter, Charlee-Grace; her sister-in-law, Georgette Henson; her son-in-law, Bo Kennedy (Tonya); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Peggy is also lovingly remembered by the many dear friends she made throughout her life, along with her children’s friends, whom she embraced as her own.
A visitation will be held at Fox and Weeks of Whitmarsh Island on December 9, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM, followed by a memorial service in the chapel at 2:30 PM. Burial will take place at Greenwich Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to Hospice Savannah, Inc., 1352 Eisenhower Drive, Savannah, GA 31406, in Peggy’s memory.
Peggy’s loving spirit, infectious laughter, and devotion to her family and friends will forever live in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. “Go Dawgs!”

GUEST BOOK

I had the privilege to know and work with Peggy at The Savannah Bank. She was lovely and so much fun to work with. I am grateful that I got to spend time with her at a luncheon of the retired ladies of The Savannah Bank, just recently after my return to Savannah from Atlanta. She was so very special. Condolences to her family and many friends. God's Peace, Dee

Aunt Peggy, I will miss you for the rest of my life. Thank you for being my Godmother, Aunt, and cheerleader for my entire life. One thing we had in common was our sense of humor. I value that. I’ll miss our phone calls. One thing that brings me great peace is to know you’re finally back together with Brandi, Nana, and Dave. Mainly Brandi. I know that’s what you always wanted.

I am so shocked and saddened to see Peggy’s name and picture come up today…..I worked at First Chatham Bank and she became my good contact person and I became hers, whenever there arose a question about a check drawn on each others bank. I actually had to go to the bank one day, so I got to finally put a face with her voice. She was one of the sweetest people I have ever met. I know why all the customers loved her…she just exuded love and kindness in everything she did with them. I know the bank was sorry to see her retire, and I know she is leaving behind so many friends that are going to mourn her loss. I haven’t talked to her since 2016, when I retired, but I am still saddened to know that she is no longer in this world, because we certainly need more Peggy’s. My deepest condolences to her family and friends.

Beau, you probably won’t remember me, but I was a friend of Jan Joyce Brennan’s, and I knew your sweet mother, Uncle David, and your dear grandmother, Margaret. I am so sorry to see that Peggy has passed away. She was a dear person, and I know she is loving being reunited with her loved ones in Heaven. I pray that God will bless you with peace and comfort during this difficult and sad time.
